ARTWORK from Beverley students is being used to brighten up one of the town's smallest historic lanes.
From today (Friday September 5) the work of five Beverley students will be on show in Narrow Racket, the passageway alongside Briggs and Powell which links Lairgate with Saturday Market.

The Beverley Renaissance Partnership has worked alongside the Civic Society on The Lanes Project to revive the historic gateways into the town centre, making them interesting open spaces for modern artwork.

As part of the project a competition was launched among town secondary schools, asking pupils to show What Beverley Means to Me.

An exhibition and ceremony of the students’ artwork was held at the Treasure House last December whenjudges chose five winning pieces of artwork to be digitally enhanced and hung on the facades of the old shop windows in Narrow Racket.

An exhibition of all the work undertaken in The Lanes Project is scheduled for Easter 2009 at the Treasure House in Beverley.
